Course Information & FAQ

Course Description
This online course will help teachers navigate the Math Common Core State Standards. Participants will explore both the Math Content Standards and the Standards for Mathematical Practice. During the 8-week course participants will read and respond to a variety of resources including: Navigating the Mathematics Common Core State Standards, Educational Leadership December 2012/January 2013, and other media. Teachers from five school districts (Issaquah, Mercer Island, Riverview, Snoqualmie Valley, and Tahoma) will be placed in mixed-district groups and participate in this online study.

How will I know when there’s a new post?
There is a tab at the top of the blog for each week of the class. Your facilitator will send you reminder emails throughout the course with links to the appropriate page, but you are welcome to visit these pages ahead of time and work ahead if you'd like.

How do I earn clock hours?
12 clock hours are available for this online study. Our online study has been divided into 8 weeks of reading/responding. Your clock hours will be “earned/documented” when you post your reply and respond to at least one peer each week.

Do I have to post and respond every week?
Yes. However we understand that things happen. If you miss a week, please contact your facilitator.

What is the time period of this class?

Can I still comment if I don’t want clock hours?
Why, yes, of course you can! Even if you aren't completing the class for clock hours, we hope you will participate by reading and commenting on posts and/or someone else’s comment any time you’d like.
